I got 1000 followers on Twitter (π) faster than 99%.
And it taught me that most growth gurus lie to you.
“Just write good content bro!"
Made sense to me.
But I didn’t grow.
Part of it was my incompetence.
I wasn’t able to write good content yet.
But there is one more thing that they don’t talk about.
And once I understood it, I gained 1,000 followers quickly.
This is the only ‘growth hack’ you need to understand:
Impressions → profile clicks → followers.
That’s it.
You don’t need growth hacks.
You need to understand the first principles of growth.
You only need:
So let’s break this down further.
I struggled a lot with this but it’s actually easy.
You need to optimize:
If you optimize these things, you'll convert a much higher percentage of traffic into followers.
I explain in-depth how to do this in The X Growth System.
That brings us to writing tweets.
I’ll stick to the first principles of writing in this article.
I’ll dive much deeper into it in future letters, courses, and 1:1 coaching.
For now you need to understand the first principles:
Your writing has to look good and be useful.
That’s it.
Looking good comes down to writing guidelines.
Here’s what you need to pay attention to:
Your writing will look better than 99% if you implement this.
But it also has to be useful.
And most people don’t understand how to do this.
They think it’s nice tips or stories.
And it can be.
But there are three types of useful:
If you do at least one of these things your reader will be satisfied.
Combining them is even better.
Which is why stories are powerful.
The best stories entertain, educate, and inspire us.
So this should be the goal for your tweets.
Always keep in mind how you want to make your reader feel.
So when do you write these tweets?
When most of your audience is online.
The first hour after posting is most important.
Peak times differ for everyone and you can check it with analytics tools.
Here’s my system before I hit 1k followers:
This will get you results.
You can write more if you have time but 3 tweets per day isn’t ‘dead.’
Quality > quantity.
But quantity quality > quality.
Make it good, then make more of it.
Comments are 80% of your growth below 3000 followers.
I didn’t leave comments when I started.
So I didn’t grow.
That’s why I can’t stress the importance of them enough.
More comments → more impressions → followers.
Focus on this and you will grow fast.

Enjoy your day!
